Trauma Therapist
I am a holistic trauma therapist and trauma informed yoga facilitator. I have been doing trauma work for 20 years. This work is fueled by a passion in my soul & I bring this passion into our work together. Although the clients I work with have experienced many forms of violence, abuse, neglect & chronic invalidation, I am driven by my strong belief in the resiliency of the human spirit. I have been fortunate to observe many trauma survivors drop the identity formed around painful events and mindfully choose who they are and what they want their life to look like.
I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR). I primarily offer EMDR Intensives to help clients make progress faster so they can live life free of some of the burdens that stem from traumatic experiences. Most clients I see have tried many things & have suffered a long time. An intensive can alleviate symptoms and help get clients unstuck without spending months in therapy. I have extensive experience in various EMDR protocols to assist survivors of any type of interpersonal trauma, including preverbal trauma, sexual assault, domestic violence, child abuse, neglect, attachment trauma and chronic invalidation. I have also helped many of my clients work through traumatic events related to pregnancy, adoption, childbirth & medical traumas. I am a member of EMDRIA (emdria.org) to stay connected to the EMDR community and the most recent research and practice updates.
I am also trained to incorporate parts work to enhance the healing capacity of EMDR. This can be especially helpful for individuals who have had ongoing trauma, such as is the case with traumas that occur during childhood and by caregivers. Often, clients seek therapy to address problems in their relationships with their families that did not include traumatic events but more so not getting their emotional and developmental needs met. Or perhaps unhealthy dynamics with siblings that negatively impacted them. Parts work offers a way to heal these wounds.
My career in trauma work began in the crisis center of the Nassau County Coalition Against Domestic Violence, now known as The Safe Center. I trained there and became a clinician and advocate for domestic violence survivors involved with the child welfare system. I advanced to hold supervisory roles and worked as both a counselor and supervisor for their 24 hour domestic violence and sexual assault hotline. My next professional chapter was as a clinician at Long Island DBT Group. I later became co-director of LI DBT Group, a position I held for several years before my next chapter began at my current practice. As co-director, I implemented the Trauma Program, helped train staff & also offered education on the benefits of yoga in trauma treatment & emotion regulation. I am intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Prolonged Exposure. I utilize various DBT skills and concepts to strengthen new behaviors integral to changing patterns and relationship dynamics.
The combination of my training & specialties allows me to offer many techniques with a strong evidence base to help you work through the trauma. Utilizing the proven protocols while also weaving in a creative approach tailored to your unique needs is where the passion for my work most comes alive.

Trauma Informed Yoga Facilitator
As a trauma informed yoga facilitator, we can work effectively with bodily sensations and stuck points that therapy alone cannot fully address. The psychotherapy I offer invites us to focus on where trauma and attachment wounds are felt in the body. This is an important part of the work. Yoga and mindfulness can further assist survivors in making peace with memories stored in the body and reconnect to the knowledge our bodies offer us. I have personally practiced yoga & meditation for over 15 years. I became a certified yoga teacher in 2016 & specialize in trauma informed yoga based on mounting research that supports the benefit of yoga in the treatment of trauma. I also am trained in Yoga Nidra, a meditative form of yoga long established to help trauma survivors. I, myself, love the tangible feeling of peace, re-centering, connection and strength a solid yoga practice brings me.
Mindfulness & Meditation Teacher
Meditation is one of those things I practice and integrate into my therapeutic approach often. We can integrate meditation and mindfulness as we navigate our day, allowing us to choose how we live with awareness, intention & purpose. Inviting my clients to observe their experiences with detachment, let go of any particular outcome when we are working to make changes & being in the present moment are important skills to bring into trauma work. I have received formal training in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction as well as many additional trainings over the years for both professional & personal goals. Mindfulness is the foundation of DBT & is the ingredient that allows skills to work best. Regardless of whether or not you have formal meditation training or experience, we are all students of life!
Reiki is an energy healing technique that requires training. Yet, anyone can access this healing art to channel the energy that exists within us & all around us. Reiki has been part of my life for many years. I received Reiki 1 & 2 training in 2015 & have since participated in a reiki community. In 2016, I obtained my Reiki Master Practitioner certificate. Reiki techniques & concepts are part of my everyday life, whether it be formal use of techniques or deeply held principles to guide me through the business of life with purpose. I offer reiki to interested clients who find this enhances their healing as well as my yoga students.

My Clients
Each & every client I have ever worked with has become a part of my life story. As my teachers & partners in their own healing, I have learned a great deal. I appreciate the value each person has brought to the table. Each lesson learned from one client has been paid forward to the many who come after. Know that what you gain in your own therapy is also a contribution to the larger community.
